After receiving more than 700 emails from change.org members, Live Nation has canceled the four concerts for Buju Banton.  More information can be found by clicking here. Thank you for taking action!

Live Nation and the House of Blues are teaming up to host a series of U.S. concerts by reggae artist Buju Banton.  The singer has a long history of performing homophobic songs before his audiences, including one song that suggests that gay people should be shot in the head, have acid poured on them, and burned like an old tire.  Is this the type of music that Live Nation or the House of Blues wants to promote?

Dear Live Nation and House of Blues

It has come to my attention that Live Nation will be sponsoring a national tour of artist Buju Banton, with the musician set to perform at a series of House of Blues venues this coming Fall. Given Banton's track record of homophobic lyrics and strong anti-LGBT language, I strongly encourage Live Nation and the House of Blues to cease promoting Buju Banton.

Banton's song "Boom Bye Bye" openly talks about assassinating a gay person, pouring acid on him, and burning him "like an old tire." Banton has continued to perform this song, and as recently as last year commented that LGBT people were part of a "social decay."

This is not the type of music that Live Nation or the House of Blues should be promoting.

Please reconsider your support for Buju Banton's national tour. Without a public apology from Banton and a pledge to stop his homophobic lyrics, these concerts only seek to reaffirm the fact that advocating violence toward LGBT people is not only tolerable, but lucrative.
