Your help is needed to urge policymakers to fund the school nutrition programs that families desperately need and can improve children's health. In this tough economy, American families are struggling to make ends meet. Also, childhood obesity is one of the most pressing health problems facing our nation's youth. Help improve children's health today: ask Congress and the Obama Administration to make the renewal of the child nutrition programs a top priority. A model letter for emailing Congress and the Administration is provided below. Please don't delay - your email today can help make improvements to school nutrition programs a reality by the beginning of the next school year. Thank you!

Make Child Nutrition A Priority In 2010

Greetings,

Given the many pressing issues Congress and the Administration had to deal with in 2009, renewal of the Child Nutrition Act was delayed. But our children's nutrition and health cannot wait any longer.

More than 12.5 million American children are now considered obese. Also, in this tough economy, American families are struggling to make ends meet, and depend on the school lunch, breakfast, and other child nutrition programs to feed their families.

I ask that you make child nutrition a priority and work to help to secure the funds needed for the bill as soon as possible.

I congratulate President Obama for recommending a $1 billion per year increase for child nutrition in his FY 2011 budget. It's now time for Congress and the Administration to work together to secure those funds and pass the Child Nutrition bill so that new reforms and programs will reach children by the 2010-2011 school year.

Please let me know if I can count on your support.

Sincerely,
