Update: Victory! Thank you for your help in signing this petition. Now let's make it happen on the federal level: click here to sign the petition to tell Congress that you want anti-choice clinics telling the truth!

On Thursday, April 8th, the Austin City Council will consider a proposed ordinance that would require limited pregnancy centers to post a sign indicating that they do not provide information about or referrals for abortion or comprehensive birth control.

Anti-choice Crisis Pregnancy Centers, which often lie to or mislead their patients, trick women looking to learn about the full range of reproductive health options into coming to them by pretending to be a comprehensive clinic.

This ordinance would require pregnancy centers to post accurate information about their services, and protect women's ability to make informed decisions about their body.

Sign this petition to urge the Austin City Council to pass this ordinance!

Then click here to sign a petition asking the federal government to take similar action to assure women across the country have access to truthful reproductive health information.

Pass Truth-in-Advertising Ordinance for Limited Pregnancy Centers

Dear Austin City Council,

I was pleased to hear that you will be considering a proposed ordinance at your April 8th meeting to require limited pregnancy centers to put up signs indicating that they do not provide abortion or comprehensive birth control information or referrals.

I strongly support this proposed legislation, and urge you to cast your vote to pass it into law. Women have the right to comprehensive, accurate information about their reproductive health, not to be tricked by misleading advertisements.

This ordinance asks nothing more than that pregnancy centers that don't provide certain services say as much. As Mayor Pro Tem Mike Martinez stated, it is about providing "accurate information" about services. This legislation would protect consumers while putting no undue burden on the pregnancy centers in question, make it an obvious benefit.

Please support truth-in-advertising and accurate information for women when it comes to their reproductive health.
