I am writing you to let you know Americans with HIV / AIDS don't have access to generic medicines like other countries do and pay $1,000's out of pocket for the same life saving medicines that other countries use! Healthcare premiums and deductibles are INCREASING even with healthcare reform! The insurance industry and drug companies are HIV med Atripla cost $1,900 for 30 pills at Walgreens here in the United States!
Some Employer Insurance plans make employees with HIV / AIDS pay 25% of the cost of their HIV meds resulting in $500 or more monthly co-pays. Even with co-pay, ADAP, Medicare part D makes it extremely hard to afford these meds. Please work with the American people to bring about change so every American can afford these live saving medicines!
