Take responsibility for lost or damaged uninsured mail

The Issue

Currently, the Post office will only accept claims for insured mail and various other mail delivered using "special" (extra cost) services. Paying postage represents the purchase of a service--if that service is either not performed, or improperly performed, the postal customer should have the right to compensation. The petition makes the request that the US Postal Service will offer at least partial compensation for lost or damaged mail that is addressed to an individual (i.e., excluding junk mail or any other materials addressed to "resident.")
