Urge the U.S. to increase tree planting! American drivers burn over 420 million gallons of gas every single day. That emits over 8 billion pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere daily. According to the National Resources Defense Council, over 64,000 people suffer premature deaths each year because of air pollution. Lawmakers and transportation officials must recognize the environmental, health and economic impact of vehicle exhaust pollution and create a nationwide program to plant trees along our highway system.

Trees improve air quality and absorb vehicle emissions

To Whom It May Concern

The National Resources Defense Council has estimated that over 64,000 people die prematurely each year due to unhealthy air. We have the opportunity to clean our air, improve the appearance of our expressways, and reduce the negative economic impact that unclean air causes on our health system.

We must adopt a program to plant trees along our interstate highway and state highway systems to offset the over 8 billion pounds of carbon dioxide that are put into the atmosphere on a daily basis.

Please introduce a proposal that will plant trees along our interstates, freeways and rural highways that will help correct these problems.

Thank you very much for your time,
