On the night of september 11th, 2012, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods distinguished themselves conspicuously by gallantly and intrepidity at the risk of their lives above and beyond the call of duty, while defending the United States Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Their selfless action resulted in the rescue of several diplomatic personnel. Greatly outnumbered, they continued to engage elements of Ansar-al-Sharia, Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb, and Al-Qaeda in Iraq; even in the face of certain death. They stood their post to the end, even after it became clear that no relief was on the way. The actions of Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods resulted in the death of 60 enemy militants, in addition to the saved diplomatic personnel. We urge the United States Congress to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.
