Tell Superintendent Dr. Patrick Martin: It's not OK for a teacher to rant and write anti-gay posts on FaceBook

I was baffled when anti-LGBT remarks/posts were made by a teacher, Viki Knox, on both her Facebook and Twitter wall, and you should too. Viki Knox ranted on Union Township High School's pride to LGBT history month.

Viki Knox refers about homosexuality on her Facebook wall as, "a perverted spirit that has existed from the beginning of creation," and a "sin" that "breeds like cancer." -- Her intolerance on sexuality is not only a bad example to students but also to former students and colleagues.

Ms. Knox is an educator and has a role model for her students. However, she is transmitting a clear message that being gay, lesbian, transgender, or bisexual is not right. Because Union Township Schools are public schools, they are allowed not be preaching hate or be prejudice to anyone including race, age, ethnicity or sexuality.

We urge you to take immediate and appropriate action by signing this petition. Viki Knox's anti-LGBT rant is over the line. There should be mandatory sensitivity training on sexuality taken for entire district of Union Township for teachers. There has to be explicit rules as to how teachers can behave, being a public servant, and on social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) . Schools should make stronger anti-bullying rules that explicitly includes language that effects the LGBT community. Our children are our next generation and this type of hatred should not be accepted. Thank you and remember to please spread the word.
