Almost half our community voted against the newly created City of Brookhaven. When Gov. Deal will appoint an interim commission as early as Monday, August 4, 2012.

Recognizing the closeness of this election requires oversight by tht No side to make sure all citizens in the new city are represented. Since this vote was so close, we want two No-City group people to be appointed by the Honorable Governor Nathan Deal to give us equal representation of the five-member commission to form the City.

Before any members are appointed to the commission, we request that Governor Deal make public the candidates for the commission.

Our concern is that nearly half the city will be alienated from the other half, neighbor against neighbor, before we even start up. Appointing members of the commission from only one side will exacerbate the animosity generated during the campaign. By appointing members from both sides, you will help heal the community and bring us back together again.
