We need a board of directors at the animal shelter. Not only to oversee but to make a combined decision on the welfare of these animals. The entire facitily should not be under one command, there should be a higher authority to make informed decisions and to make compromises. The commission has its hands full as it is, this would help everyone as well as the animals.

An idea of the boards main functions should be fund raising, and board members  should be actively involved in various fund raising events. Some of the boards’ other responsibilities  should include setting policy for the animal shelter, working to increase MCAS's membership, grant writing, developing the animal shelter’s annual budget, making sure procedures are followed, detemining a reasonable holding time for animals, and many other duties.
