Governor Pat Quinn announced in his recent budget address the closing of several state facilities, including the Dwight Correctional Center. Dwight is the only maximum security women’s prison in the state of Illinois. The prison houses over 1,000 inmates and employs over 300 people from area communities. Our goal is to show widespread support for keeping Dwight Correctional Center open, helping save the hundreds of jobs it provides and the economic viability of the community.
