One of the reasons that the United States has low voter participation is the small choice of politicals parties and the winner takes all districts. Fairvote, formerly The Center for Voting and Democracy, has been struggling to inform Americans of the advantages of a multi-party system. This system favorably rule in Europe, allows for more opinions, allows greater choice, encourages more people to vote. In most presidential ellections most Americans "make a choice" not to vote. In some big cities 30 percent vote for their mayor. Are they happy? No. They think they don't have any real selection. Proportional representation works. Women are better represented in this system. Minorities are better represented in this system. Workers are better represented in this electoral process. Everyone is better represented.
