Yale University, one of the most prestigious and well-funded universities in the world has just announced that PepsiCo is going to start funding a new “nutritional science research” fellowship in Yale’s School of Medicine.

Pepsi’s core business, making junk food and soda, is a significant contributor to diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other nutrition-based health problems.

By taking Pepsi’s money, Yale is helping the company avoid public criticism for the harmful consequences of consuming its products. Perhaps worse, Yale is calling its own research into question. Nutrition research funded by Pepsi is almost laughable and large industries have a long history of using money to influence health-related science .

Yale should say no to Pepsi and maintain its credibility. Send a letter to the dean of the medical school and the university’s president telling them to reject nutrition research sponsored by Pepsi.

Don't Let Pepsi Sponsor Nutritional Research

Greetings,

I am shocked to learn that Yale is going to allow Pepsi to sponsor nutritional research. It is simply absurd to think that you will be able to maintain any credibility if you let a company that makes soda and junk food to fund supposedly objective nutrition research.

Yale shouldn’t participate in Pepsi’s efforts to avoid public criticism for the harm caused by its products. Instead Yale should focus on doing the best possible research without the appearance of influence from notoriously corrupting industries.

Say to Pepsi-sponsored nutrition research.
