After recent events in the Wetzel County School System regrading bullying and harassment in grades K-12 students and the community want a district wide bullying policy.
Students have come forward to say that they have experienced bullying and harassment online and on school grounds. The most recent case was a 5th grader, who according to family members say that the student attempted to take their life due to bullying and harassment in the Wetzel County School System.
Tell Weztel County Schools Superintendent Bill Jones that all students deserve to be safe and bully free and to implement a comprehensive inclusive bullying policy.
Make Wetzel County School System Safe for All Students
Greetings,
As a concerned citizen, I am writing you today to ask you to protect all students in the Wetzel County School System by implementing a comprehensive inclusive bullying policy.
As you know K-12 students who attend classes in the Wetzel County School System are not currently fully protected from bullying and harassment. Recently, a elementary school student, who according to family members by a local CBS affiliate news station attempted to take their life due to bullying and harassment in the Wetzel County School System.
By not creating an inclusive bully free environment, you are sending a message that hate and intolerance are acceptable and that all students are not equal or safe in the Wetzel County School System.
I urge you today to stand up against bullying and harassment and create safe spaces for all students by implementing a comprehensive and inclusive bullying policy for the 2011-2012 school year.
I request that you address these concerns on or before June 03, 2011.
Thank you,
