It is outrageous that on domestic US flights, some of which are longer than 5 hours, United Airlines fails to provide vegetarian meal options to economy class passengers. Although you have to purchase meals, all items on their standardized menu which is printed in their in-air magazine have meat in it. Even the salad has chicken.

We recently traveled from Washington DC to Hawaii (total 11.5 hours flight) and this was unknown to us. Both my daughters, ages 4 and 3 and we stayed hungry throughout the flight, not having any options. The flight attendant was having a vegetarian meal and when asked about it, she said that was only for the crew.

Prior to returning from Hawaii, I called United to see if they could accommodate for any vegetarian meals and I was willing to pay for this, and they said no and suggested that we pack our meals. I even emailed their customer service via their website to file a complaint and the response was to call their generic 800 number which I had already done. So the efforts were useless.

If you are just as outraged by such ignorance for vegetarianism by the world's largest airline, join me by signing this petition right now.

Sincerely,
Dishant Shah, MD

Start providing vegetarian meal options on domestic US flights

Greetings,

I just signed the following petition addressed to: United Airlines.

----------------
Start providing vegetarian food options on domestic US flights.

It is outrageous that on domestic US flights, some of which are longer than 5 hours, United Airlines fails to provide vegetarian meal options to economy class passengers. Although you have to purchase meals, all items on the standardized menu which is printed in the in-air magazine have meat in it. Even the salad has chicken. When United is contacted in advance to request such a meal option and willingness to pay for it, we are told NO and asked to pack our meals. An email to customer service to file a complaint from the United website is returned with a response to call the standard United 800 number which is having us go round in circles without a solution.

Such ignorance for vegetarianism by the world's largest airline in unacceptable and such customer service to say NO to our request for vegetarian meal options is outright rude.

Sincerely,
