Tell the IRS: Revoke the Tax Exempt Status of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
The Issue
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) want to take birth control coverage away from all women under the Affordable Care Act, according to National Organization for Women. (http://www.now.org/news/blogs/index.php/sayit/2012/02/14/five-big-facts-on-birth-control-not-nearly-enough-discussed-by-men-in-the-mainstream-media)
According to Laura Basset, "The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops may be one of the quietest, yet most powerful lobbies on Capitol Hill, with political allies that have enabled them to roll back decades of law and precedent...The National Organization for Women has called for the bishops conference to lose its tax-exempt status over its lobbying activities." Let the government know that you don't approve of the USCCB's lobbying activities. If they want to lobby against abortion and women's health and reproductive rights, they can pay taxes.
If after reading the above information, you believe the USCCB has violated the law, fill out a Department of the Treasury—Internal Revenue Service Form 13909, available as a regular pdf to print and fill out by hand, or as a pdf form version, which allows you to fill out the form on your computer and then print.
