Atrazine is the most widely used herbicide in the United States. Even in very small amounts, however, this toxic chemical increases chances of birth defects, breast cancer and reproductive health problems in both men and women.

The EPA is currently reviewing these health concerns and is set to issue new regulations or ban Atrazine this year.

Atrazine drains into drinking water supplies and can travel hundreds of miles through the air as it gets picked up by the wind. The European Union has banned Atrazine since 2004 and seen minimal impact on agricultural production.

Tell the EPA that it is time to ban Atrazine.

The bottom line is that we don’t need to use such a dangerous chemical at all. We can grow plentiful amounts of food without it and we don’t need to put ourselves at risk.

Ban Atrazine

Dear Administrator Jackson,

I am writing because I know that your agency, the EPA, is considering what to do about Atrazine. The popular herbicide has been linked, even in very low doses, to increased chances of birth defects, cancer, and reproductive health problems in both men and women among other problems.

I hope you will make the sensible decision to simply ban Atrazine in the U.S. The EU has banned it for the past six years.

The herbicide isn’t particularly effective and the health risks simply can’t be worth the very small gains in production this particular herbicide may or may not provide.
Please, don’t put us at risk any longer.
