Why This Is Important

Not only has Target given $150,000 to MN Forward, an anti-gay group, but their CEO Gregg Steinhafel also gave $10,000 to Michele Bachmann this past April. Money donated to MN Forward has ended up in the campaign accounts of Tom Emmer who is a radical candidate for Minnesota Governor.

What is especially troubling is that Target has been seen as a LGBT friendly company in the past. Allowing company executives to support such right-wing extremists as Michele Bachmann is another red flag.

In the wake of Citizens United, corporations must be held accountable by consumers when they make poor decisions. Corporations will listen when confronted by those who spend their hard earned money at their places of business.

Join us in sending an email to Target expressing your concern about their most recent political donations. We cannot afford to patronize companies that preach inclusiveness but take actions that promote intolerance.

Discrimination and hate diminish all of us.

You can contact Target directly on their website, but we will personally send this petition with all of the signatures to their corporate office.

I recently learned that Target donated $150,000 to MN Forward, a political organization that has in turn sent money to radical candidates like Tom Emmer who is running for Governor. This is very disheartening considering that Target has generally been regarded as LGBT friendly. Furthermore, I have also learned that the Target CEO donated $10,000 to Michele Bachmann who has a long history of statements that incite violence and hate.

I hope that Target will reconsider its donations to extremist candidates for political office. I also hope that you will strongly denounce the MN Forward organization as well as any others that promote such extreme views. Hate and discrimination diminish all of us.
