As future leaders of Pennsylvania, we need to provide our children with every opportunity to grow into healthy, productive adults. Unfortunately, we are in the midst of a full-blown obesity epidemic that threatens the health, and the future, of our children. An astonishing one out of three children is either overweight or obese--a sentence to early onset cardiovascular disease, diabetes, disability and premature death.
Because our children spend so many of their waking hours in school, schools are a critical component to reversing this trend. By ensuring an environment that promotes nutritional food choices and physical activity, we're teaching Pennsylvania's kids healthier habits.
Please take a moment and send a message urging PA's lawmakers to support House Bill 1572, legislation that would establish healthier snack food and beverage standards in schools.
Our kids go to school every day to learn, and by replacing unhealthy snacks and beverages with better, healthier choices, we're teaching our children the benefits of a nutritious diet. A lesson that will last a lifetime.
We Need Healthier Foods and Beverages in Schools
Dear Lawmaker,
As future leaders of this Commonwealth, we need to provide our children with every opportunity to grow into healthy, productive adults.
By ensuring an environment that promotes nutritional food choices and physical activity, we’re teaching Pennsylvania’s kids healthier habits.
As a volunteer with the American Heart/American Stroke Association, I urge you to support House Bill 1572, legislation that would establish healthier snack food and beverage standards in schools. Our kids go to school every day to learn. By replacing unhealthy snacks and beverages with better, healthier choices, we’re teaching our children the benefits of a nutritious diet. A lesson that will last them a lifetime.
I urge you to support efforts that will promote the lifelong health of Pennsylvania’s kids, including House Bill 1572, when it comes before you for consideration.
