The San Diego Padres have banned a dozen breeds of dogs from their "Dog Days of Summer" event in Petco Park.  They are the only major league club that discriminates against breeds of dogs.

In contrast the White Sox, true humanitarians, feature a "Sox for Strays" public service announcement at home games where many adoptable pit bulls are on the field with players.

All dogs are individuals and should be judged accordingly.

Any well mannered dog should be allowed to participate in the "Dog Days of Summer."

Tell Major League Baseball and the Petco Park Events Staff that breed discrimination in baseball must end.

Stop Canine Profiling in Petco Park

Greetings,

I am disappointed that Major League Baseball allows Petco Park to discriminate against twelve breeds of dogs by not allowing them at "Dog Days of Summer" events. Other ballparks do not engage in canine profiling. Dogs, like people, are individuals and should be judged accordingly.

The Padres should follow the lead of the White Sox. The White Sox don't engage in canine profiling -they even feature adoptable pit bull-type dogs on the field through their innovative Sox for Strays program. Every baseball team should follow the Sox lead.

I hope the MLB makes Petco Park start living up to its name.

Major League Baseball should enact canine friendly policies dependent on a dog's behavior, not it's appearance.
