    1. Inspector-General of Police, Nigeria (M.D Abubakar)

We, the undersigned, call on M.D Abubakar, the Inspector-General of Police to stop kidnapping in Nigeria now.

Kidnapping in Nigeria, especially in the Southeast region of Nigeria has become a menace. It is really painting the country black as it reflects the inability of the Police and the Government to protect its citizens.

Nowadays, Igbos in diaspora are no longer comfortable coming home with the news of kidnapping that is on air daily. The kidnapping of journalists from Lagos in Abia State put the Police on fire as Mr. Onovo, the former Inspector-General himself moved to the affected State to save his face and his office. Luckily for him, the journalists were later released unhurt by their abductors, who said they mistook them for Government officials.

Dear IG, all we are saying is that this act of hostage taking and demands for ransom is a growing monster in our society that needs your urgent attention and all concerned stakeholders.

We appreciate your efforts so far and plead that you explore other sustainable measures of curbing this heinous crime. The Nigerian Government has all it takes to support the Police in combating this crime as already promised by Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigerian President. All legislative backing should be sought from the National Assembly, as the members of the National Assembly have at one time or another fallen victim of the act.

Kidnappers are criminals. They are killers. They are threats to our National Peace and Economy. Something has to be done NOW!

Thank you M.D Abubakar for your anticipated quick intervention in this matter.
