President Obama spoke for Americans across the country during his address to Congress when he said, "Health care cannot wait, it must not wait, and it will not wait another year."  He has made great first strides toward fulfilling his commitment by budgeting for a $634 billion health care reserve fund, and convening a health care reform summit.

But the president cannot do it alone.  Congress will be writing the health care reform legislation, and not all members share the same sense of urgency that you, I and the president clearly do.

Write to your members of Congress.  Let them know that health care reform cannot wait any longer.

Health Care cannot wait another year

Dear Representative,

President Obama spoke for me and Americans across the country during his address to Congress when he said, "Health care cannot wait, it must not wait, and it will not wait another year."  I urge you to embrace the urgency of his message and do whatever you can to make health care reform a reality in 2009.

The rising cost of health care affects us all.  Businesses who offer benefits are feeling the crush of skyrocketing premiums.  Families are all too often paying more for their health care or finding themselves underinsured when serious illness hits.  Doctors, nurses and health care workers are frustrated by a system that forces them to be experts in the intricacies of dozens of policies instead of focusing solely on making their patients better.  47 million Americans are already uninsured, and millions more are joining their ranks.  Worst of all, rising health care costs are a ticking time bomb in state and local budgets.

The president's health care reserve fund is a good start, but I ask you to do whatever you can to solve this problem once and for all in 2009.
