The FDA has finally reversed its position and declared concern about the safety of Bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical commonly found in medical tubing, hard plastic water bottles, baby bottles, dental fillings, and food can and packaging linings.
BPA is linked to many health risks including reproductive abnormalities, neurological effects, heightened risk of breast and prostate cancers, diabetes, and heart disease.
Children are particularly sensitive to the toxic chemical and the FDA is supporting immediate "removal of BPA from baby bottles and cups.”
But the FDA also says it can’t move further to restrict or ban BPA without action from Congress.
That means the widespread use of BPA isn’t going to end until we get Congress to act by either banning the toxic chemical directly or giving the FDA the authority to do so.
Tell your Congresspeople and Senators that you want BPA out of consumer products now.
Get BPA out of Consumer Products
Greetings,
Bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical commonly found in medical tubing, hard plastic water bottles, baby bottles, dental fillings, and food can and packaging linings has been linked to many health risks including reproductive abnormalities, neurological effects, heightened risk of breast and prostate cancers, diabetes, and heart disease.
The FDA recently reversed its longstanding opinion and expressed concern over the dangers of exposure to BPA, especially for babies and young children.
But the FDA also said it is powerless to act to regulate this dangerous chemical without additional action by Congress.
Please, I urge you to take such action and help get BPA out of consumer products as quickly as possible. There is no reason to put our families at risk any longer.
