Tell Congress: Restore Food Stamp Funds

Tell Congress: Restore Food Stamp Funds
The Issue
President Obama recently signed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act into law. The bill reforms school lunch, boosting meal quality and expanding the number of kids enrolled in free- and reduced-cost lunch programs. And while school lunch was certainly in desperate need of reform, in order to fund the bill Congress took some much-needed money from another hunger-alleviation program--food stamps.
Lawmakers took $2.2 billion from future Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in order to fund the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. While the Obama Administration has promised to restore these cuts, we've got to make sure this happens before the lame-duck session ends.
It's unfair to rob Peter in order to feed Paul. Hungry kids need school lunch reform and food stamp benefits. Sign our petition asking President Obama and Congress to immediately find a way to restore SNAP cuts.
