For 16 long years, Congress has debated passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Speaker Nancy Pelosi says passing the legislation is one of her top priorities. Congress must act now to stop workplace discrimination and ensure lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are protected.

It is simply immoral to deny an entire class of people the ability to earn a livelihood and provide for their families. Americans are already protected from employment discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion and disability. It is now time to add sexual orientation and gender identity.

LGBT workers currently can be fired in 29 states just because they are gay. No one should have to fear losing their job simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Tell your representative and ask them to move forward immediately with the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

Employment Non-Discrimination Act

Dear Representative,

I urge you to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers from employment discrimination.

Everyone has a right to work, and people's job security -- and the financial security of their families -- should not depend on who they are. That is why it is so important that you vote for the ENDA bill that will protect all workers regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
