I just got a response from Chase "Community Giving." It reads: "Thank you for reporting your concerns regarding a Charity
in our list to Chase.

We take this matter very seriously.

We'll look into your request shortly and respond
appropriately.

The Chase Community Giving Team

Keep the petition going. They know they are under pressure

Chase Bank has a contest running that is titled "Community Giving." Their official rules show under section 4 states, "A Charity that, by itself or through an affiliated entity, discriminates on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, medical condition, citizenship, ancestry or marital status is not eligible."

Well, we all know that NOM's (National Organization for Marriage) very existence is based on discrimination against the LGBT community and NOM is one of those competing as part of Chase's Community Giving contest. This is the reason for the petition. Please send and recruit as many of your change.org friends to sign this petition.

Below is a copy of the petition letter so that you can see it after signing:

To whom it may concern,

I'm sure that this is just an oversight; however, I think it's important that as a member of the LGBT community, or one of its allies, you have an organization listed in your "Community Giving" program that violates your terms and conditions of participation.

Under eligibility (Section 4 of your term and conditions) it states, "A Charity that, by itself or through an affiliated entity, discriminates on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, medical condition, citizenship, ancestry or marital status is not eligible."

I'm sure by now, that your organization, Chase Bank, is quite familiar with the purpose of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM.) But in case you aren't, their entire purpose of being in business is to deny the right of same-sex couples to enter into the legal institution of marriage. Their very essence of existence is based on discrimination against the LGBT community.

If your organization keeps them as a potential beneficiary of your "Community Giving" contest, I'm sure that you will understand the potential consequences. Chase, a long-standing and well-known supporter of LGBT rights, will be seen as an enabler to discrimination which potentially will be seen as turning a blind eye to discrimination. And since boycott's are effective tools in promoting social change, a boycott of Chase Bank, and other subsidiaries, may be made if you fail to live up to your own anti-discrimination regulations.

Please consider removing NOM as a potential beneficiary of your "Community Giving" contest winner.

Best Regards,
