Many food products in America contain the gelling agent known as gelatin, an animal byproduct produced from  the collagen in animal bones. Gelatin can be found in jelly sweets, cereal, yoghurt, chips, chocolate and even peanuts.

There are so many products in the United States that contain the unnecessary gelling agent and millions of animals are bred and killed so that their collagen can be used in food products. The gelatin itself is extracted from boiled animal bones, intestines and animal organs to make it form into a gelling agent. There are many alternatives to gelatin such as fruit pectin, agar-agar (made from seaweed,) tapioco flour and corn starch . Foods such as peanuts do not need to contain any gelling agent to maintain their flavor and their is simply no need for gelatin in cereals. Please take a moment to sign this petition to ask certain food producers to stop using gelatin and find an alternative.

Please stop using gelatin

To whom it may concern

I find it outrageous and unnecessary that some of your food products contain the gelling agent known as gelatin. Gelatin is made from boiled animal bones, intestines, organs and skin and comes from animals such as cows and sheep. The majority of these animals come from factory farms within the United States where conditions are horrendous and filthy. The animals suffer a miserable existence being treated like products. They then face a painful death just to become food and to be used for by-products such as gelatin.

By using gelatin within your products you contribute greatly to the suffering of these animals and your company funds such cruel practices by paying for them to continue. I urge you to stop using gelatin in your products and use the many alternatives available including; fruit pectin, agar-agar (made from seaweed,) tapioco flour and corn starch to name but a few. By seeking an alternative your products will appeal to the millions of America's who are vegetarian you will also appeal to meat eaters who find it distasteful to eat boiled animal skin & bones.

Thank you for your time.
