With Your Help, Easter Seals Pledges to Work With the Obama Administration and Congress Easter Seals congratulates Barack H. Obama, who was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.
People with disabilities have a significant stake in government programs. For many of these children and adults, their quality of life is dictated by the availability of services and supports, many of which come only from the federal government. Easter Seals has prioritized 18 different pieces of legislation and will be working actively to see these bills become law. With the help of Legislative Action Network members like you, Easter Seals pledges to work with the Obama administration and the new Congress to advance policies that empower people with disabilities and their families.Visit the Easter Seals Legislative Advocacy Center to stay informed about critical programs and legislation that impact the lives of people with disabilities, children, older Americans, the country’s service members and veterans, caregivers and families.
Tell the Senate to Provide Health Insurance to Low Income Kids! The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation to revise the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) last week. A top Easter Seals public policy priority, SCHIP provides health insurance to the children of working families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but may not be able to purchase health care insurance on their own. The Senate will vote on its version this week.  Take Action! Urge Your Senators to Support SCHIP.
