Urge your congressperson and senators to help protect our elections by cosponsoring HR 2894 / S 1431, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act introduced by Rep. Rush Holt of New Jersey and Senator Bill Nelson of Florida.
The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act will:
• Protect every vote nationwide with a voter-verified paper ballot
• Protect our elections with random hand-counted audits
• Greatly improve accessibility of voting for people with disabilities
• Ban wireless devices, internet connections, uncertified software, and undisclosed software in voting machines
• Provide federal funding to cash-strapped counties and states to make these improvements to their elections.
In Pennsylvania alone, 50 of the state's largest counties are casting votes on paperless, unverifable Direct Record Electronic voting machines, causing over 7 million votes to remain in danger.
We need this bill. We need voter-verified paper ballots and audits of our elections. And with lots of support from citizens like you to help get co-sponsors and support in Congress, we can finally make this happen. Do this Action Alert today!
It will help if you also call or fax your Congressperson or Senator. Here is a handy list of the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation, including US House and Senate. For those in other states, find your Representative HERE.
THANK YOU to all Representatives and Senators who have joined as co-sponsors of the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2009: HR2894 Cosponsors S1431 Cosponsors

Dear Representative
I am writing to ask you to help protect our elections. Please become a co-sponsor of HR2894 / S1431, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act introduced in the US House by Rush Holt of New Jersey and in the US Senate by Bill Nelson of Florida.
Insecure electronic voting systems have placed our elections in danger. Millions of voters nationwide have no way to verify that their votes are being counted as they intend, and in many districts there is no way to meaningfully audit or recount any election. If nothing is done, our elections are at grave risk for problems in 2010, 2012, and beyond.
Some touchscreen voting machines have a rated life of only five years. By 2010 and 2012 many counties that purchased voting machines in 2006 under the Help America Vote Act will be facing repair or replacement of these systems. This situation is urgent because with the economic crisis there is no local or state money that is going to be available to improve or replace these voting machines in the foreseeable future.
America needs this bill. We need accurate, accessible voting systems that provide paper ballots and audits of our elections nationwide. We need the federal funding and support that the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act will provide our counties and states to get these improvements. It's a wise investment in the safety and future of our democracy.
Please contact Rep. Holt's or Senator Bill Nelson's office and join the many bi-partisan co-sponsors of HR 2894 / S 1431, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act.
Thank you very much.
