Why This Is Important

The Newborn, Child and Mother Survival Act would authorize the President to furnish assistance to improve the health of newborns, children and mothers in developing countries. It would direct the President to develop a comprehensive strategy to reduce mortality and improve the health of newborns, children and mothers in developing countries.
