Ask Our Leaders to Cosponsor the No Child Left Inside Act! Today, Americans face many complicated environmental challenges that impact our jobs, health, security, and quality of life. Part of the problem lies in an education system that has cut back on instruction related to the environment and eliminated many meaningful outdoor activities. These include field trips that enable children to foster a connection to nature and the environment. We need to reverse this trend and teach our children about our planet and the environmental challenges we face. The No Child Left Inside Act will provide these future generations of environmental stewards with the tools necessary to make informed choices about the world in which we live. Please urge your members of Congress to cosponsor this critical legislation!

Support Environmental Education for America's Children

Dear Representative

As a citizen concerned about the challenges our children will face with respect to their jobs, health, security, and quality of life, I urge you to cosponsor S. 1981 ‑ the No Child Left Inside Act. This bill amends the existing No Child Left Behind Act and provides the necessary framework to ensure that our children have access to all the benefits that come with learning about, and experiencing, nature.

In the past few years, America's school systems have cut back on instruction related to the environment, as well as on field trips and other meaningful outdoor activities that enable children to understand and form a connection to the environment. Please help to reverse this trend and provide our children with a solid understanding and appreciation of nature, and of the challenges we face as stewards of the environment.

The No Child Left Inside Act will create new funds to help states develop rigorous environmental education standards. It will improve teacher training and emphasize to states the critical need for our children to be environmentally literate. In addition, the proposed legislation will provide incentives to school systems to offer more and better environmental instruction. The rewards are likely to be great. We know from past research that students who participate in environmental education programs become more engaged in their schoolwork and do better on standardized tests.

Please cosponsor the No Child Left Inside Act and ensure that our children are educated about, and experience, nature, and eventually become part of an environmentally literate, aware, and appreciative society!
