Lilly ledbetter worked at Goodyear for many years as the night manager supervising tire production. Goodyear had a policy that you could not discuss your wages so Lilly had no way of knowing that she was being discriminated against with her pay. When Lilly found out she sued and won, but the ruling was overturned because of the courts interpretation of the law, the statue of limitation portion of the law. The determined that the 180 statute of limitations began the first day Goodyear decided to break the law and discriminate even though the victim had no way of knowing at that time that they did. The law has now been clarified in congress and signed into law stating that the statute of limitation begins again each paycheck in which the law is broken in similar cases. The law is corrected but Lilly still has no way of collecting what the jury awarded her. By law Goodyear does not have to pay her. However by not paying her judgement Goodyear is showing the contempt for women that they clearly held and acted on when they began and continued to discriminate against Lilly with her pay. What happens to one of us effects all of us so please stand up for Lilly.
I would request that Goodyear Corporation pay Mrs. Ledbetter her judgement. That NASCAR not support Goodyear until they do this and that all Americas refuse to purchase from Goodyear until this is corrected.
Goodyear should pay the discrimination lawsuit won by Lilly Ledbetter.
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Goodyear Tire, NASCAR.
