STOP the FICTION based SB 373 & 2811 Government BAN on pet snakes

These proposed laws are based on hype and people's fear of snakes due to poor education. They are not based on science or even REALITY. They are designed to let our Government have power over what pet's people like to keep. This is the same type of thing as having Politicians deciding what dog breeds you are allowed to keep. The stories about a large population of non native Burmese Pythons living in Florida's Everglades is a PERFECT example of turning a mole hill into a mountain. The numbers being stated are COMPLETELY FALSE! This is a group of people trying to scare and sensationalize a small state problem into a National problem with make believe dangers and science fiction facts. These bills would make things like a common pet Boa Constrictor illegal. It would be a Federal Crime to cross a state line with your PET SNAKE! Do not let our Government decide what commonly kept pets are suitable and which are not.  Do not let people that can not even identify a COMMON species to dictate your PERSONAL FREEDOMS! Do not let people believe all the untrue nightmarish stories about pet snakes killing children! You never hear about how the Coroner's office see's these deaths and relates the actual death to Child abuse or intentional murder! People killing people and making it look as if the death was due to the pet, snake "attacks" make for a perfect coverup! The News fail to relay almost any story involving exotic snakes with facts, instead they exagerate size, dangers, mis-identify common species and ignore the boring, but real facts. The Humane Society HSUS does not want you keeping PETS, they find reptile people easy candidates, BIRD PEOPLE YOUR PET BIRDS ARE NEXT!! Look on their site, the only list species they "approve" of and it is small!  HSUS has a serious need to end the ownership of pets, they have skewed reality about these pet species by employing hype, fiction, fear and their lobbyist in Washington.  Money donated to help animals in this organization, 1% to shelters/animals, the other 99% is used for things like this! How is this helping animal welfare? What happens to these pets once they become ILLEGAL? This will only cause animal suffering. Although some of their activities may be good for animals much has nothing to do with actual animal welfare. A major tool in their FEAR CAMPAIGN involves claims that reptile keepers feed dogs and cats to their pets! This generally gets an instant negative response about us and our pets. We also know that this is NOT TRUE! Many people do not understand our love for our pets, they don't agree with our choices and they want to make it ILLEGAL! Many people do not realize the gentle nature of these pets and what it actually is to keep them in our homes. If you value your personal freedoms then please think about the Federal Government regulating what pets you are "allowed" to keep.

Please object!

Tell the United States Fish and Wildlife Service that you do not want them to tell you what pets you may keep. Do not let them tell you that the pets that you may presently keep are going to become illegal. Don't let our Government claim that your pets will escape or you will let them loose to displace native wildlife and ruin the environment. Don't let them cause people to believe that these pets can thrive and breed in our climate. Don't let them frighten people into believing that these same snakes will stalk people and their pets as a food source.  If they want to create laws governing pet snakes ask them to please base ALL decisions on Science, not hype, notions and make believe.
