Portland, OR – In light of the recent letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the closure of “illegal dispensaries” and other threats to medical cannabis cardholders in Oregon, Madeline Martinez, Sole Proprietress of the World Famous Cannabis Café will hold a press conference at noon on Friday, June 10, 2011.
The press conference will take place on the steps of Portland City Hall at 1221 SW 4th Avenue, Portland, OR 97204 in hopes of addressing patient fears and concerns. “Between the recent report from the United Nations recommending full legalization of cannabis, Eric Holder’s vague comments about working with medical cannabis states and the recent decree from the Oregon Department of Justice, many Oregon Medical Marijuana Program registrants are confused and worried for their safety,” states a concerned Martinez.
The press conference has been called due to the many inquiries Ms. Martinez has received since the DOJ letter came out on June 3, 2011. It strives to shed light on this important issue and allay the fears of Oregon medical cannabis cardholders. Martinez will be joined by Portland attorney Paul Loney. For more information, please contact Madeline Martinez at the World Famous Cannabis Café at 503-208-3395.
Stop harassment of Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) registrants
Dear Mr. Holton:
I am writing today to urge you to stop your harassment of Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) registrants who are following Oregon law. Your letter has put undue stress on law-abiding citizens who are guilty of nothing but their choice of medicine. We are the sick, dying and disabled, and we do not deserve to be treated like criminals.
In this time of unbelievable crime and violence in our state, it seems that your department must have more pressing issues that need your attention. Please turn your focus to the public service you were chosen to perform; incarceration of those who provide for the ill and disenfranchised should not be a part of that.
