Governor Andrew Cuomo recently took office and he is already poised to make one of the most disastrous political decisions in New York State history. New York State is currently ranked the 12th worst state in the United States with over 45,000 homeless youth, over 18,000 of those under the age of 6 (according to the State Report Card on Child Homelessness conducted by The National Center on Family Homelessness). If these cuts are made, shelters across New York State that house homeless children and youth will shut down, the others will be forced to significantly reduce their services. This would be absolutely catastrophic to our children who are affected by this. Tell Andrew Cuomo and all of New York State's elected officials that THIS IS NOT OKAY!

Andrew Cuomo, our homeless children are more than dollar signs! Stop cutting homeless youth funding!

Salutations,

Please speak for the 45,000 homeless youth in New York who have no one to turn to.
This petition is my invitation for you to join me in telling Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and Senator Joe Robach that New York's homeless children deserve more. These children who are homeless have already experienced things that no child should ever have to go through. Many of them have faced not only physical but sexual abuse as well.New York State is currently ranked the 12th worst state in the United States with over 45,000 homeless youth, over 18,000 of those under the age of 6 (according to the State Report Card on Child Homelessness conducted by The National Center on Family Homelessness). Worse than these alarming statistics, is the fact that Governor Cuomo, in his short time in office is now proposing to cut 100% of funding for these homeless and torn youth.
If these cuts are made, shelters across New York State that house homeless children and youth will shut down, the others will be forced to significantly reduce their services. This would be absolutely catastrophic to our children who are affected by this.
I hope you will stand up an join myself and the rest of New York in telling the Governor that this is unacceptable! Our children are our future and they deserve a chance at a better one, starting with a place to go.
