Subject:Given the implications of the current economic crisis, I urge you to please pass President Obama’s American Recover and Reinvestment Act and include additional bigger and bolder steps to jumpstart our nation’s green economy. Specifically, I urge you to please: -Fund the Green Jobs Act at $500 million. There has been a lot of discussion about the promise of the green economy, yet there is only one authorized federal program designed to provide training for those who would work in green jobs: the Green Jobs Act.-Increase Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding. SNAP programs are 100% federally-funded and have demonstrated to not only support the most vulnerable members of our country, but be the most effective economic stimulus provision currently considered in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.-Provide emergency funding for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) feeding program. Now more than ever, with hunger on the rise, it is absolutely essential that the WIC program receive more funding. -Advance Universal Health Care, with a focus on preventive care. Preventive health care is the most cost effective tool to provide quality and equitable health care to all Americans. It's time to build a strong, green and just economy for America.
