<p>Today, Gov. Baldacci signed LD 1020 into law, making Maine the fourth state in the union to stand up for marriage equality.</p>
<p>What an incredible moment.</p>
<p>We have a tough fight ahead of us on the ballot this fall, but this is a big step in the right direction, and we should take a moment to celebrate.</p>
<p>People say the fight for gay marriage is about a lot of things. They say it's about equal rights, and civil liberties, and the values that define America &mdash; and that's all true.</p>
<p><b>But this fight is about more than that. This is about love.</b></p>
<p>It's a wave that was unexpected. Victories in Maine and Vermont and Iowa, along with bills making their way through the legislatures in New Hampshire and New York, have turned the tide on marriage equality. Far-right conservatives and their despicable fear tactics are losing ground every day. You proved it in Maine: this is a fight we can win.</p>
<p>So join in our celebration of the victories we have made and the victories yet to come, and display the sticker. And ask your friends and family to display the sticker. And when you see a stranger with the sticker, you can smile.</p>
