I am a volunteer for my local animal shelter. Unfortunately, this is a "KILL" shelter. There were more than 300 animals euthanized in this shelter in the past year alone. That is statistically one or more than one a day. These animals are killed due to people not adopting them, health issues, and lack of room. Please ask your U.S. officials and local government to supply more funding for these shelters to ensure expansions, vet-care, food, bath tubs, and all hygiene supplies. Please note that the picture is from the shelter that I volunteer at. The dogs are in worse condition.
Funding For Sheltered Animals
Dear Representative
Animal shelters are in desperate need of funds. In many shelters, dogs do not receive baths, live in their own waste, are kept in very small cages without being walked or having much attention. Cats are also kept crammed in cages too small and often times must lay in their own litter boxes due to lack of space.
These animals are not provided proper health care and may suffer with illness until the shelter veterinarian decides to euthanize them. Bath tubs are not available in many cases, so the animals suffer from skin infections and are euthanized for this reason, as well.
The cost to adopt a pet from so many shelters is almost $100 and for this, the animals are not adopted. These circumstances lead to over-crowding, and once again, the animals are euthanized.
Something can be done. Please support these wonderful animals and help them by lowering adoption prices and supplying funds to animal shelters in need of expansion, health care, and all hygiene needs.
Sincerely,
Mary Poole
