Dear Senator Collins

Thank you for working to bring a National Deepwater Offshore Wind Research Center to Maine.

This is a great opportunity for our state to become a leader in a new clean energy economy that would not only curb dangerous global warming pollution but also create thousands of green jobs right here in Maine.

The Senate will consider national climate legislation this summer. Please support these initiatives to kickstart a national clean energy economy:

1. A Renewable Electricity Standard that requires 25 percent of our electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025

2. An Energy Efficiency Resource Standard, requiring utilities to achieve efficiency increased of 15% for electricity and 10% for natural gas by 2020.

3. A cap on global warming pollution that will cut our emissions at least 25 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050.
