Ten baby Emperor penguins have been forcibly removed from their colony at Cape Washington, Antarctica. They have been condemned, for profit-driven reasons, to live out the rest of their lives separated from their natal colony in an artificial, alien environment at SeaWorld for so-called "research purposes". Not only is this unethical, but since SeaWorld California has a successful breeding program, it is also unnecessary to procure penguins from the wild. The artificial cold environment also means a very large carbon footprint. It accelerates global warming and the melting of sea ice, and threatens the lives of all Antarctic wildlife.
It is the goal of this petition to put pressure on SeaWorld California to release these penguins in accordance with the Antarctic Treaty Environment Protection Act 1980, in an area of the Southern Ocean where the penguins might reasonably be expected to find their way back to Antarctica. We would also ask SeaWorld California to ensure that the penguins are of sound physical health and of an age where they might reasonably be expected to survive in the wild, before they are released.
Please spread the word and sign the petition today, and help free these penguins from their enforced captivity.
Return the Emperor Penguins to their rightful home in Antarctica
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Seaworld California.

Return the Emperor Penguins to their rightful home in Antarctica
Ten baby Emperor penguins have been forcibly removed from their colony at Cape Washington, Antarctica. They have been condemned, for profit-driven reasons, to live out the rest of their lives separated from their real colony in an artificial, alien environment at SeaWorld for so-called "research purposes". Please release these penguins in accordance with the Antarctic Treaty Environment Protection Act 1980, in an area of the Southern Ocean where the penguins might reasonably be expected to find their way back to Antarctica. Please also ensure that the penguins are of sound physical health and of an age where they might reasonably be expected to survive in the wild, before you release them.
