Governor Schwarzenegger recently axed $256 million in childcare funding from the state's budget, thereby leaving 60,000 working moms and their families out in the cold.

Support hard working California moms, like Marianne Casucci, who works as a medical assistant in San Jose, California for $14/hour. For Ms. Casucci, this childcare program allows her to stay employed. Without this program, Ms. Casucci, and moms just like her, have no way to come up with the extra $1200 a month for childcare. She may likely have no choice but to go back into the state's welfare system.

Please support California children of the working poor and say YES to restoring critically needed funding.

By signing this petition you are:

1) Supporting California state Assembly Speaker John Pérez's (D- Los Angeles) proposal to restore the childcare subsidies that Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed.

2) Asking members of the First 5 California commission to allocated funds to the childcare program.

3) Telling Governor Schwarzenegger you do not agree with him putting working families LAST by taking away a critically needed childcare program.

Letters are sent to officers of the California State Assembly, California State Senate Leadership, First 5 California, and Governor Schwarzenegger.

Please Say YES to Childcare Programs for California's Working Poor

Greetings,

As you are aware, Governor Schwarzenegger recently axed $256 million in childcare funding from the state's budget, thereby leaving 60,000 working moms and their families out in the cold.

I am writing to you in support of hard working California moms, like Marianne Casucci, recently interviewed in the San Jose Mercury News. Ms. Casucci works as a medical assistant in San Jose, California for $14/hour. For Ms. Casucci, this childcare program allows her to stay employed. Without this program, Ms. Casucci, and moms just like her, have no way to come up with the extra $1200 a month for childcare. She may likely have no choice but to go back into the state's welfare system.

I support California state Assembly Speaker John Pérez's (D- Los Angeles) proposal to restore childcare subsidies. I hope Governor Schwarzenegger, the state legislature, and members of the First 5 California commission will do the same.

Please support California children of the working poor and say YES to restoring critically needed funding.
