This month, the Republican Study Committee introduced the Spending Reduction Act – a bill aimed to cut $2.5 trillion in government programs. Included in the list of 55 agencies to be eliminated are clean energy programs (like EnergyStar), arts programs (like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the National Endowment for the Arts), environmental programs (like weatherization and beach erosion funds), public housing programs, benefits for federal employees, and international aid.
The Republican Study Committee is comprised of the majority of House Republicans, and they are claiming that the Spending Reduction Act is drafted as a result of "listening to the people." Please take a moment to sign this petition and let our representatives that cutting these programs is NOT the way to relieve national debt.
Vote down the Spending Reduction Act
Greetings,
This month the Republican Study Committee introduced the Spending Reduction Act, which aims to cut $2.5 trillion from the national deficit by eliminating vital programs for the climate, public housing, clean energy, federal employee benefits, and the arts.
Although the national deficit is a serious issue, broad strokes at the expense of American citizens is not an acceptable way to resolve it. Cutting these programs would not only be a hit on the lives of millions of Americans, it would send a message that America doesn't take clean energy, the climate, worker's rights, and the cultivation of culture seriously.
When the Spending Reduction Act hits the floor, please vote NO!
