Currently the California State government and the Los Angeles Unified School district is in discussion about potentially eliminating funding for bus services that bring 35,000 students to magnet schools and serve 13,000 special education students in the 2012-2013 academic year. These 170 magnet school programs that exist in the LAUSD have been the source of tremendous academic success over the years and have provided tremendous opportunities for students across Los Angeles. Elimination of this funding would be catastrophic to these programs and the ability of countless low-income families to maintain their access to them. We call on state lawmakers, school board members, and Superintendent Deasy to do whatever it takes to secure funding for these essential services. Do not throw the kids under the bus!
Continue to fund transportation for California's Magnet Programs
Greetings,
