Save Elephants

The Issue

The Cameroon elephant population has been cut in half due to poachers selling their ivory tusks to make ivory ornaments. These killers have had no mercy and brutally murder these poor helpless animals to traffic the ivory to China and Thailand. The high demand in China for ivory is driving poachers to massacre the 400 elephant population in the Cameroon national parks to approximately 200 as of March 2012. These poachers are having to go deeper into northern Cameroon because they have wiped out the elephants of Chad and Central African Republic. Cameroon elephants represent 80% of total population of savanna elephants in Central Africa. If this consists there will be no elephants left. The world must unite to stop this international annihilation of mammoths globally. We need to start by banning the "legal" Ivory market in China which is supposedly highly controlled but yet tons of illegal ivory gets sold annually. In 1980 most countries banned the sell of ivory...why hasn't China done the same? The UN needs to get involved and we should all come together to petition China's leader to make the change!

Kristina OliverPetition StarterI believe in making a change for the good, I have a big heart and want to do right. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am and I believe a single friendly gesture can change a person for life. I also know man has been damaging the world we live in for many years now. Who knows if we've gone too far, all we can do is try to do right now. This includes protecting our: waters, ozone layer, children, animals, etc. The only way you can make a change is to become a voice...this is my passion. BE THE CHANGE.
