SHOCKING! STOP VIETNAM'S FORCED LABOR
==(TIẾNG VIỆT DƯỚI ĐÂY - VIETNAMESE BELOW)==
The Vietnamese authorities put drug users into “drug rehab” centres which in reality are profitable forced-labor sweatshops. FORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE, INCLUDING HUNDREDS OF KIDS, are held as forced laborers. If they refuse to work, they are beaten with truncheons or electrical batons.
Vietnam, hoping to join the TransPacific Partnership [Free Trade] Agreement, would likely listen if TPPA partner governments speak up.
Please click to tell these governments: Vietnam must release and pay compensation to these people before joining TPPA. And, include labor-rights texts in TPPA to ban forced-labor exports and protect workers’ rights.

Use trade pact TPP to stop Vietnam's forced-labor camps masquerading as "drug rehab" centers
Dear Minister / Trade Representative
THE VIETNAMESE AUTHORITIES THROW 40,000 DRUG USERS INTO THEIR "DRUG-REHAB" CENTERS, WHICH IN REALITY ARE FORCED-LABOR SWEATSHOPS.
I respectfully call on your government to ensure that Vietnam cannot sign the TransPacific Partnership Agreement without closing the centers and paying compensation to their victims. It should run programs where drug users can voluntarily seek help without being detained and forced to work, making profits for the authorities.
Further, I call on you to have strong labor-rights texts in the TPPA. I understand that ITUC (International Trade Union Confederation) has suggested texts to ban exports involving child-labor or forced-labor, implement international norms such as the right to have independent trade unions, and establish conformance mechanisms.
