Christine Yurgel has been running an "animal rescue group" named Pound Puppy Protection Rescue in South Plainfield, NJ. Ms. Yurgel has years of complaints against her organization. In January 2011, following formal complaints against Christine Yurgel and her "animal rescue group", the township of South Plainfield's Board of Health shut down her rescue, citing her with health hazard violations and operating a kennel in a residential neighborhood. She was cited a $330 fine, and ordered not to continue "rescuing" animals. Despite this order, Ms. Yurgel continued to "rescue" animals from animal shelters and adopt them to unsuspecting families. These animal were often obtained for free or very low adoption fees. They received no veterinary care and were adopted with forged/faked health certificates.
In December 2011, the NJ SPCA formally charged Ms. Yurgel with 5 counts of Animal Cruelty, following three complaints from recent adopters. Ms. Yurgel "pulled" a litter of 6 pitbull mix puppies from a Maryland animal shelter and brought them to NJ. The puppies received no veterinary care upon arrival, were not properly quarantined and were adopted to unsuspecting families with forged health certificates. Within days of the adoptions, three of the puppies fell ill and were diagnosed with Parvo. As a result, two of the puppies have died. The third puppy diagnosed with Parvo survived, but not after extensive medical treatments and astronomical medical bills. The status of the remaining three pitbull puppies from the litter is unknown, as this "rescue" has no record of the "adoptions".
On December 21, 2011, Christine Yurgel appeared in North Brunswick Municipal Court and plead not guilty to the charges of animal cruelty. Her case is awaiting trial.
Today, January 20, 2012, the home of PPPR "foster" Lisa Cremone-Burden was searched by Woodbridge Animal Control Officers, who discovered deplorable conditions that the innocent animals in her care were enduring. Animal Control Officers seized three dogs and one cat, all of whom were confined in urine & feces covered crates in a dark basement. These animals received no food or water, are not socialized and absolutely terrified of the outdoors. All of the animals are emaciated, not housebroken or even leash trained! They are scared, confused and stressed.
The pictures from the seizure is enough to break the heart of anyone - especially an animal lover. These two women use innocent animals as a source of income, and they clearly do not care about the welfare of animals.
PLEASE sign our petition to stop PPPR from harming any more innocent animals. Voice your concerns, and urge the Police Department and Municipal Court in Woodbridge to prosecute Lisa Cremone-Burden & Christine Yurgel with animal abuse, animal cruelty and animal neglect.
PLEASE take a moment to sign our petition against the owner of this "rescue", Christine Yurgel, in regards to the animal neglect charges for the Parvo-infected puppies.

Instead of housing them in her South Plainfield home, she began shifting the animals to the home of friend & fellow "rescuer" Lisa Cremone-Burden.

I have signed this petition in support of charging Lisa Cremone-Burden to the fullest extent of the law. Clearly, the actions by Ms. Cremone-Burden and Ms. Yurgel show no remorse towards breaking the law & no compassion for the innocent animals they force to endure deplorable & unspeakable neglect and abuse. Please, charge these two women to the fullest extent of the law & ban them from owning animals. No animal should have to suffer because of greed.
