To amend title 10, United States Code, to enhance the readiness of the Armed Forces by replacing the current policy concerning homosexuality in the Armed Forces, referred to as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", with a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
Repeal "Don't ask don't tell".
Dear Representative
This is in reference of H.R. 1283. We fully support the repeal of the "don't ask don't tell" policy. The military is an American force, brought together for our country's protection. We can not discriminate against ready and willing Americans that wish to defend and serve our great country. Simply ignoring the fact that many people in the military classify themselves as homosexual will, and has only caused problems. The law causes faithful recruits to lie or deceive every day. It has caused much heartache, and many dishonorable discharges that are unjust. By repealing "Don't ask don't tell", we will be taking a magnificent step forward. This law that began as a compromise, is being seen in a new light. People are realizing that just like African Americans coming out of slavery, Gays should be aloud out of the closet, without horrible repercussions. This is not a cause that should be thought of lightly. These are the rights of your fellow Americans, and how they will live out their lives. Please repeal "Don't ask don't tell", Thus building up the nation we are all so proud of, and supporting "equality before the law" as stated in the Articles of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
