Every day, we subscribe to inherently sexist ideas that continue to make us think about women one way and men another. Even in reference to my son, feminist friends and relatives talk about how he is a "big, strong boy," but no one ever talks about my cousin's children as "big, strong girls." They are "pretty." If we ever want to overcome the sexist views we deal with daily as women, and break through that "glass ceiling," be paid equally, be respected equally, et cetera, we have to put an end to sexist comments, actions, and teachings to our children EARLY. I pledge to not pass down such ideas to my children, and I encourage you to do the same!
