The current rules that govern the Senate hurt our democracy. Obscure rules, deliberate obstructionism, and even filibusters of procedural votes allow individual senators to hold the nation's work hostage while cutting backroom deals with corporate polluters. The fight for green jobs and clean energy shows exactly how closely the filibuster is tied to special interests and corporate money.  

We’ve seen big oil and the Forces of Greed abuse Senate rules in order to prevent any vote on one of the critical dangers facing our nation. Senators Udall, Merkley and Harkin have introduce a bill to make our legislative branch part of a functioning democracy again. Join the Sierra Club as we play a leading role in efforts to pass this reform bill and put the interests of American families before corporations.
