Protect the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The Issue

Around the world, human rights of indigenous peoples are being ignored and are often violated. Violations of indigenous peoples' basic human rights, such as rights to land, resources and the environment, often lead to disastrous consequences for these communities.

The United States is currently reviewing its position on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This declaration would help protect the rights of indigenous communities around the world. The U.S. should be a leader in promoting these basic rights, and now is the time to speak out and to urge the White House to endorse the UN Declaration.
